Who is Matt?

NOTE: This is very old copy. I've done lots of things since this. I'll update the site soon. In the meantime, enjoy this time capsule from 2017!

I'm a journalist and attorney living in Washington, DC. I've worked as a producer for NPR's All Things Considered and Slate, and I'm a frequent contributor to WAMU 88.5. Sometimes I get rebroadcast nationally on WBUR's Here and Now. My writing has also appeared in the Detroit News, Slate, and Communications Daily.

I earned my law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, and my B.A. in political science from the University of Michigan. On evenings and weekends I sing sweet harmonies with friends in churches and concert halls.

I have a parrot. He's very loud but he makes up for it by being a spectacular dancer.
